In this depiction, her severed head rests calmly in a bowl, surrounded by living snakes—an image that symbolizes the persistence of her power beyond death.

The composition balances serenity and horror: Medusa’s expression is peaceful, almost exalted, while the snakes writhe menacingly around her.
