The linocut “Deimos” by IRRLÆUFER is a powerful exploration of the human body, its fragility, and inner complexity. At first glance, the piece resembles an archaic statue: a torso, strong, antique, marked by time and experience. But a closer look reveals more – the inside is turned outward. Viscera, heart, and organs break through the surface, raw, pulsating, almost tangible. The depiction is both anatomical and symbolic – confronting the viewer with what is usually hidden: our vulnerability.

The name Deimos, from Greek mythology the personification of dread, is no coincidence. The artwork portrays fear not as something external, but as an internal state, dwelling in the body, expressing itself through it, becoming visible. “Deimos” is a mirror of the unconscious, of pain and struggle – not just physical, but deeply emotional.

The stark black-and-white contrast amplifies the drama and immediacy of the linocut. When worn as a shirt print, “Deimos” becomes a statement: an image of rupture from the surface, a sign of honesty, depth, and the inevitable – our humanity.

A work that lingers. Uncomfortable, stirring, honest.
